Anti-Congo virus drive launched in Lakki

LAKKI MARWAT: The District Livestock Department launched door-to-door anti-Congo virus drive in Gandi Khankhel Union Council on Friday.
"The department is providing free insecticides to the cattle keepers for spraying their animals to kill ticks stuck to their bodies," said Haji Rehmatullah Khan, a veterinary supervisor at a local veterinary health unit. He said that anti-Congo drive had been launched on the directives of district director livestock Dr Naseemullah Khan Wazir.
"Besides eliminating ticks by conducting insecticides spray the drive is aimed at to educate people especially cattle keepers about the hazards of the dangerous tick borne disease," he maintained. He told that the disease was fatal and could easily transmit to the humans from animals.  He also called upon the people to adopt precautionary and safety measures while slaughtering animals during Eidul Azha.–Staff Reporter
