Pakistan's Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has stressed on the need for further improving civil-military relations.
Addressing a passing out parade of cadets, he said it was imperative for the military leadership to work for strengthening the democratic system in the country.
He said that for the purpose, more confidence among state institutions is needed, adding, that this process has started and it should continue in the future.
General Kayani said that the army supports the government's policy of dialogue with the Taliban.
He said that terrorism was a big challenge and the national leadership and nation had to decide ways and means of the dialogue process.
He said that it was imperative that the dialogue process should forge unity among the nation instead of creating any division and it must be within the constitutional parameters.
General Kayani said that the Pakistan Army had played its role against terrorism in a very difficult situation.
